Red Bracelet 'Project'

Picture
The red beaded bracelet. You can make it or buy them. Wear it daily or when you go out to secretly say that you are proud to be pro-ana or maybe even just to identify yourself with those others who are affected by this too that you have Anorexia. You do not need to be proud of having ana but for me wearing this bracelet is like a comfort. It allows other who know of this 'project' that they aren't alone and also gives you a constant reminder.

Anytime you see someone wearing a red beaded bracelet, capture there eye contact and point to your bracelet, and if they ruturn the same point to theirs...then they are ED friendly. If not, then its just someone whom is wearing one.

As for those who are older and feel silly wearing a beaded bracelet, wear a red t-shirt every monday or when you go out on mondays.

Q) What does the red bracelet stand for?
A) The red bracelet is a symbol of ana (anorexia, an eating disorder), many eating disordered individuals wear them. Usually those with Mia wear a blue bracelet (sometimes known/confused for being purple).

Q) Why do they wear them?
A) Mostly to identify each other and let others know that they aren't alone. It isn't the best idea to go out in public and say, "HEY EVERYONE! I HAVE AN EATING DISORDER!" It's something that you might want to keep to yourself and others who have eating disorders. But you can't always tell if someone has one, so by wearing the red bracelet you can help identify them. It can also be showing that you are pro-ana (pro anorexia), but not always.

Q) Does everyone who wears a red bracelet anorexic?
A) NO! Not everyone who wears a red bracelet has an eating disorder. Don't be a fool and go thinking that, you could end up embarrassing yourself. A good way to find out is making eye contact with someone else who is wearing a red bracelet and point to yours, if they return the gesture than they're most likely ana.

Q) Could the red bracelet mean anything else?
A) Of course, many people in the religion kabbalah wear a red bracelet, it means something very different to them.
